Bird Genetics for Breeders

Two birds. One perch. Next season's colour.

Hatch & Hue shows you the clutch before the first egg is laid. Set the pair, read the tray, and hold an egg under the candling lamp.

The Candling Tray

A budgerigar demo. Choose the pair, then press and hold any egg to see inside.

Cock

Hen

Each egg is one possible chick, sized by how often it should turn up.

Simplified demo: blue is autosomal recessive, ino is sex-linked and follows the hen's single Z chromosome.

Thinks like a breeder

Budgerigars, colour canaries and peach-faced lovebirds, from cobalt and greywing to agate, isabel, aqua, seagreen and pallid-ino.

🥚

Egg-tray forecast

Set visible mutations and known or suspected splits. Every possible chick appears as an egg, sized by its odds.

Press and hold: the shell glows and shows colour, sex and what the chick carries hidden.

Linked genes

Drag a gene between chromosome strands for lacewings and type I or II dark greens, and watch the percentages shift.

📒

Ring register

Closed ring, hatch date, sire and dam. Three generations of pedigree and a relatedness check for every planned pair.

📅

Nest calendar

Log eggs, mark fertile or clear, and follow hatch countdowns and ringing days on your own incubation times.

🎯

Colour chaser

Name the colour you want and every pair in your aviary is ranked by how likely it is to produce it.

About Us

🐦 We are a small team of aviary lovers and software tinkerers who keep budgies, canaries and lovebirds ourselves, and who got tired of pencil-and-ring-book guesswork.

🧬 Our mission is simple: make bird genetics feel as natural as watching a pair on the perch, so every breeder can plan with confidence, from a first opaline to a show-bench line.

🥚 Hatch & Hue gives you a tray of possible chicks with honest percentages, a ring register with pedigree, a nest calendar, and a ranking of the best pairs for the colour you are chasing.

🪺 The value is time and certainty: fewer surprises, cleaner records, and a clear sense of what every youngster carries before it ever hatches.

Pair them on paper first. Then let them nest.
